NASA's LADEE moon orbiter will use laser pulses to carry signals back to Earth at 622 megabits per second in a test to provide an alternative to reliable, but slow radio waves. The laser communications system, part of the Lunar Laser Communication Demonstration experiment, will be tested for the first month of LADEE's four-month mission launching Saturday.
