Many school districts across Washington state are using a portion of $1 billion in additional funding during the next two years to offer full-day kindergarten, along with other programs and services. Just 34 districts didn't take the funding for kindergarten, with a spokesman for one district saying it didn't have space for more classes. The dollars came as the state seeks to satisfy a ruling by the Washington Supreme Court that it has failed to adequately fund education.
