General Mills posted a quarterly sales gain of 8%, fueled by product launches including Yoplait Greek yogurt, gluten-free Pillsbury products and Nature Valley Soft-baked Oatmeal Squares. President of Big G cereals, Jim Murphy, credited the company's marketing efforts for renewed interest in classic products such as Chex and Lucky Charms. "In this new era of marketing, you can try a lot of ideas for very little money and really experiment with them, and we're doing it with them quite effectively. We're unlocking growth on some of these brands we haven't marketed for a while," he said.
