Women in U.S. television are matching record high levels of employment both in front of and behind the camera but still lag behind their male counterparts, according to San Diego University’s Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film’s 16th annual report. Women accounted for 43% of speaking roles in front of the camera in the 2012-13 study period, equal to highest levels recorded by the study since it began, while behind the camera women occupied 28% of positions.
