A primary school in Ocean City, N.J., will engage second- and third-grade students this year in weekly "Power Hours." The program, which is expanding this year, allows students to work in small groups once each week on project-based learning assignments aligned with the Common Core State Standards and New Jersey's Core Content Standards. District Curriculum Director Mikenzie Helphenstine said the program has increased achievement and engagement of students, who are divided by academic level and rotate among teachers and groups.
