The buildup of renewable-energy facilities in some western states will provide export opportunities for neighboring states that still have room for renewable-energy development, according to columnist Gerard Wynn. Data from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory show the best sites for utility-scale renewable-energy projects are already taken in California, Oregon, Utah and Washington, which means these states may be amenable to importing from other states if the price is right, Wynn writes.
