Nonprofit grocer Fare and Square is scheduled to open Saturday in Chester, Pa., which has not had a supermarket in 12 years. The USDA has classified the west end a food desert. The store, operated by hunger-relief organization Philabundance, will offer fresh seafood, a deli, produce, frozen food and a meat department with a butcher. Fare and Square will require a free membership, and qualifying low-income customers can receive a 7% rebate.
