Pacific Gas & Electric has unveiled a monitoring center for its natural gas transmission systems and distribution pipelines. The $38-million center was developed in response to a fatal gas line blast outside of San Francisco three years ago. "The new center allows us to really take a closer look at our system, so we can predict and be proactive about potential issues before they become a problem," said Brittany Chord, a spokeswoman for the utility.
