At a recent meeting of political scientists, those in attendance discussed the impact of legislation that has restricted the National Science Foundation's ability to fund their research. Many of those who came to the meeting of the American Political Science Association want the so-called Coburn amendment to be repealed, but Rep. Dan Lipinski, D-Ill., cautioned that it might be difficult to do that anytime soon. Still, the APSA is working to help its members lobby Congress about the issue.
