The large Kashagan field off the coast of Kazakhstan has commenced oil and natural gas production, according to North Caspian Operating. The field holds about 35 billion barrels in estimated reserves, of which up 13 billion barrels are recoverable. Foreign energy majors ExxonMobil, Total, ConocoPhillips and Royal Dutch Shell are part of the consortium that represents NCOC.
