Samsung's ChatON cross-platform strategy for its mobile messaging service is paying off, with half of its 100 million registered users coming in the past four months. The application comes preloaded with most of Samsung's Galaxy devices, but also works on all other major platforms. ChatON's numbers put it ahead of the 60 million users of BlackBerry's BBM, putting a spotlight on that company's decision to keep it platform-exclusive, Jon Russell writes.
