Sasol Ltd., a leading South African producer of motor fuel, is seeking project financing to build a petrochemical plant in Louisiana that will cost an estimated $7 billion. Construction of the cracker would come before a second project to build a gas-converting facility that could cost up to $14 billion, which the firm says will be "the first of its kind in the U.S." Sasol expects final cost estimates to be completed by February or March, to be followed by discussions with contractors and banks by the end of next year.
