Royal Dutch Shell declined to provide details about its plans to resume offshore oil and natural gas exploration in the Arctic, after it encountered several drilling setbacks in the region in 2012. "Our future plans for offshore Alaska will depend on a number of factors, including the readiness of our rigs and our confidence that lessons learned from the 2012 operating season have been fully incorporated," said Curtis Smith, a spokesman for the company.
