Sixth-grade students in social studies teacher Brett Duncan's class will be getting their hands dirty in October, which is Massachusetts Archaeology Month. With help from other teachers at Overlook Middle School in Ashburnham, Mass., Duncan installed wood-framed dig sites on the school grounds that will be filled with soil, sand, bones and artifacts, such as pottery pieces and tools, so the students can experience an archeological dig. "You can read about it, you can watch it, but to actually get your hands dirty is different," Duncan said.
