Starbucks opened two highly-visible Beijing flagships on Monday, saying it will have at least 1,000 shops in China by year's end, and expects the country to outpace Canada to become the java brand's second-largest global market early next year. The U.S. coffee giant is testing new designs aimed at tailoring the stores to the market, and one of the two new shops is open 24 hours and boasts a club with live music on the weekends. "It's a lifestyle to the Chinese. It's much more of a gathering place for social occasions," said Group President John Culver.
