Ph.D. candidates should prioritize publishing and develop a comprehensive mission statement to help them land an academic job after graduation, University of Pennsylvania assistant professor Johanna Greeson suggests. Greeson shares a visual mission statement she used to impress a search committee and show them how her skills fit with the job. "Finding your first professorship isn't an easy road, but it's important to persevere and to stay focused on your long-term goals," she writes.
