Student and first-time fundraiser Elijah Gordon, 12, of Cherrybrook Public School in Australia, took on a school project that became an effort to raise money for literacy in Australia's native communities. He has raised funds to buy school supplies for students in the Northern Territory of the country, where 1 in 5 students from indigenous communities can read and write at the minimum standard. He said "making a difference" was his favorite part of the effort to support Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation's Wall of Hands.
