A study by Stanford University researchers found that a premium increase of $100 a month could drive 2.25 million workers to forgo employer-provided health coverage and enroll in health insurance exchanges under the Affordable Care Act. Such a move could cost taxpayers $6.7 billion, the researchers say. The study also predicts that 37 million workers could obtain more favorable deals via exchanges as employers' prices for health insurance increase.
