Just 17% of U.S. assisted-living and other residential care communities used EHRs in 2010, according to a report by the National Center for Health Statistics. The report also showed that almost 25% of communities with EHRs were capable of sharing health data with pharmacies, while 17% could exchange information with doctors. Information commonly tracked by facilities using EHRs included resident demographics and medical provider data.
