More than half of pay-TV subscribers don't know if their provider offers an app, leaving them more likely to seek on-demand and over-the-top content from third parties, according to a Digitalsmiths survey. Nearly 7 in 10 smartphone and tablet owners have not downloaded applications from their TV provider, the survey showed. "Sometimes we feel the marketing of apps might not be a priority. ... A lot of people don't know the features of these apps," said Betsy Carr, Digitalsmiths' senior marketing manager.
