Wal-Mart Stores is quickly becoming the largest beer retailer in the nation, selling major brands, such as Budweiser and Coors, at minimal markup -- as low as 0.6% at some stores. The strategy is part of a plan to double Wal-Mart's alcohol sales by 2016. "We have been continuing to move prices lower on that and seeing returns in the form of market-share gains in that category," U.S. chief Bill Simon said.
