Walter Oil & Gas has plugged a Gulf of Mexico well that blew out in July, federal regulators said, but it may not be permanently sealed for some time. The well blew out July 23 during the drilling of a sidetrack well by a Hercules Offshore rig and was naturally clogged by sand. There are no signs of natural gas at the site and debris was completely removed as of Sept. 6, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said.
