High-school students in Vancouver, Wash., recently attended math lessons taught by state troopers. In one activity, students analyzed tire-skid marks to calculate the speed of the car that left them. "I didn't think [law enforcement] had to do so much math," student Chase Perry, 15, said. The lessons were part of STEM fest, held to promote careers and education in science, technology, math and engineering.
