The wind industry is underutilizing an incentive program under the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency that allows national banks and federal savings groups to invest in wind projects, said Barry Wides, OCC's deputy comptroller for community affairs. Of the approximately $137 million spent under the program for energy projects, only about $8 million has been for wind projects, said Wides, at a seminar hosted by the American Wind Energy Association in New York.
