Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have been raising zucchini, broccoli and sunflowers in an attempt to establish the feasibility of zero-gravity farming. Only one problem: The homesick astronauts grew deeply attached to the plants and said eating them would have felt like cannibalism. "We considered them crew members. ... It changed our whole experience," says astronaut Don Pettit.
