The volume of 20-foot equivalent units at the Port of Virginia rose 6.3% in September year-on-year, and "in terms of rail volume, September was our fourth best month in history," said Rodney Oliver, Virginia Port Authority interim executive director. "The port has experienced double-digit rail growth year-over-year in 10 of the last 11 months." Meanwhile, TEU volume at the Port of Los Angeles fell 4.6% last month, but the Port of Long Beach, Calif., posted a 14.7% increase in freight volume.
