Qatar Airways puts more than $19 million a year into wines from Australia. They rely on folks like James Cluer, a master of wine, to evaluate wine choices for the airline. Airlines in general put a lot of resources into their wine selections, using professional palettes to test them and offering more options for fliers in all classes. "I think the modern airline passenger is very, very food and wine savvy. To match the demand of customers being thirsty and knowledgeable, we have to deliver in all the cabins," said Ken Chase, a wine consultant to American Airlines.
