Contractors who have intermittent access to health insurance coverage through their agency might qualify for tax credits through an Affordable Care Act exchange at times when coverage is unavailable. Deductibles would only need to be satisfied once in a given year as long as the same health plan is selected each time. In addition, if coverage offered through an employer does not meet the affordability threshold, workers may turn to exchanges for subsidized plans, if eligible.
