An asteroid 39 to 89 feet wide was expected to pass between Earth and the moon Tuesday, according to a tweet from NASA's Near-Earth Object Program at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "Small asteroid 2013 UV3 will safely pass Earth Oct. 29," according to the program. The asteroid was first observed Friday and was expected to pass within 0.7 lunar distances, about 176,000 miles, from Earth.
