Government workers affected by the shutdown can receive financial assistance such as no-interest loans, deferred payments, waived ATM fees and dropped late-payment fees at some banks. TD Bank, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Capital One, Discover and U.S. Bank say they will work with affected customers. "[O]ur hope is that we can make it easier for our customers to cover their bills and make ends meet if they're not receiving their pay," said Nandita Bakhshi, head of retail distribution and products at TD Bank.
