BNSF's newly opened economic development office in Billings, Mont., is the result of an increasing demand for rail facilities to serve the state's growing oil, coal and agriculture sectors, said Vann Cunningham, assistant vice president of economic development for BNSF. "It just makes a lot of sense for us, given the economic development here, to put someone on the ground," Cunningham said. "The closer you are to an economic-development project, the better the project goes."
