Schools in Arkansas, Colorado, New York, West Virginia and Vermont are serving "Breakfast After the Bell," in which breakfast is available after the first period of the day. Educators say the meals help students focus and have helped curb tardiness and improve attendance. Now, as more schools adopt a federal program in which all students receive school meals -- regardless of family income -- officials say they expect to increase the number of students eating breakfast in school.
