U.S. researchers analyzed 101 breast milk samples bought online and found that 74% of them either contained disease-causing bacteria or high levels of bacterial growth. Contamination can occur during collection and shipment, lead author Sarah Keim said. The study was published in the journal Pediatrics. The FDA and the American Academy of Pediatrics caution against feeding babies breast milk acquired from individuals or over the Internet.
