Two California residents are suing Yahoo in a class action, alleging that Yahoo scanned their e-mails in order to send them targeted ads. Tammy Zapata and John Kevranian argue that since they don't have Yahoo accounts they can't have agreed to Yahoo's terms of service, and that the scanning of their e-mail sent to Yahoo addresses constitutes a violation of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. A California federal district court judge already ruled against dismissing a similar case against Google.
