CenturyLink will begin a trial of gigabit broadband in a small footprint of its Omaha, Neb., market using passive optical networking equipment from Calix, including the company's E7-2 Ethernet Service Access Platform. The pilot program will cover approximately 48,000 potential customers, who will have the option of paying $79.95 a month for symmetrical 1 Gbps connectivity.
