Two cities in Oklahoma are considering projects that would incorporate vintage neon signs to attract new traffic along Route 66, a Chicago-to-California route that has become the road less traveled for cross-country trips. A nonprofit in Bethany, Okla., wants to create a vintage sign museum with a driving loop to show off billboards, and some officials in Tulsa want to relax sign rules to allow for the return of neon signs that harken back to the highway's heyday.
