Students on the STEM -- science, technology, engineering and math -- team at Pinnacle Charter School in Federal Heights, Colo., were rewarded this summer for their work on a project that started out as a way to help address the rising costs of bus transportation in their community. The students developed a synthesizing biodiesel fuel used to help top off the fuel tanks of their school district's buses. The students' project was a winner in the Christopher Columbus National Science Fair.
