Errors and omissions insurance is a vital investment for home-based travel agents, writes travel lawyer Jeff Miller. However, agents should also take care to review their E&O insurance to determine claims that are not covered by their policy, which are the errors he believe happen most often. Claims not covered by E&O insurance include those that stem from providing incorrect information about cancellation provisions and those that occur when agents are unable to or do not collect money. "Thus any error or omission by an employee or covered independent contractor involving fees, cancellation penalties, charges or refunds would not be covered under most E&O policies," Miller writes.
