For home-based travel agents looking to expand their client base, tactics that worked in a large-agency setting are usually not the best option, writes Anita Pagliasso, president of Ticket to Travel. Effective marketing at the home-based level is as simple as keeping a high-quality, professional-looking business card on hand as well as publishing a blog or newsletter filled with educational content, Pagliasso writes. "The bottom line is to stop viewing your marketing as a way to 'get' people to buy from you, and instead explore how your promotions could actually 'help' potential clients solve some of their biggest problems," Pagliasso writes.
