Walsh Construction crews last Saturday completed an eight-plus-hour concrete placement for Tower 5's base, a significant moment for the project because it's "the first mass concrete pour for the Downtown Crossing," said Mindy Peterson of the Ohio River Bridges Project. Nine piers will be used to support the crossing, with five in the water. The Downtown Crossing, which will link Kentucky and Indiana, is expected to be completed by 2016.
