The longer we leave it to reduce carbon emissions, the steeper those cuts will have to be to avert the effects of climate change, writes Lawrence Krauss. That makes active approaches such as geoengineering and atmospheric carbon reduction a necessary part of a viable climate strategy. "Carbon capture from the atmosphere may not be practical in the end. But exploring possibilities like it ... should be an ethical global imperative," Krauss writes.
