Electric chainsaws may provide less power than their gasoline-powered counterparts but are easier to use and require less maintenance, writes Philip Schmidt. In this article, he tests an 11-pound electric chainsaw, noting that it lacks the fumes and much of the noise of gas-powered models. The equipment packs enough power for small to medium-size jobs and works well to clean up storm damage a couple of times per year, Schmidt writes.
