The Environmental Protection Agency is considering lowering the 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard target to 15.21 billion gallons from 18.15 billion gallons, according to internal documents obtained by news agencies. Among the options the agency is considering is to cut the target for corn ethanol from this year's 13.8 billion gallons to 13 billion gallons, and that of advanced biofuels from this year's 2.75 billion gallons to 2.21 billion gallons, the documents showed. If EPA does move in that direction, biofuel advocates said they may have no choice but to take legal action.
