A 28-member Federal Aviation Administration advisory group was recently created to discuss the question of Wi-Fi safety at different parts of flight. The group found that the use of electronic devices will not affect many aircraft currently flying. Ground-based cellular operations should remain off-limits, the group says, for now because of Federal Communications Commission rules about airborne cellular service, but says cellular connections during flight goes not present a significant safety hazard and urges the FAA and the FCC to readdress those rules.
