Facebook is launching a mobile-video ad unit for its iPhone and Android application that's aimed at mobile-app developers. "Potential customers will be able to click play to watch a video featuring your mobile app before installing the app. ... [W]e look forward to helping developers use their video creative to find new app installs," Facebook's Radu Margarint wrote in a blog post announcing the ad type. The company also announced a new "cost-per-action" pricing tier for mobile ads, with marketers being charged by the install.
