U.S. housing prices accelerated in August, rising 12.8% year-on-year, up from 12.3% in July, as measured by the S&P/Case-Shiller index of property prices in 20 cities. "You've got some momentum. The more encouraging thing is not just that prices accelerated, every area reported higher selling prices," said Brian Jones, senior U.S. economist at Societe Generale in New York.
