Hans Riegel, CEO and second-generation candy-maker of Haribo, died Oct. 15 at age 90. Riegel's father founded the company in 1920 and created the gummi bear, which Riegel brought to international popularity. He developed more than 200 types of candy and was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame in 1999. "With his pioneering spirit, he created a worldwide unparalleled company and a brand which fame and popularity is second to none," Haribo said in a statement.
