Spa Castle Grand Resort in Pocono Township, Pa., could feature the area's fourth indoor water park. Proponents said spa-goers and international visitors will be among the main target markets of the planned project. The Spa Castle resort -- slated to open in 2017 -- would include an a 70,000-square-foot spa, hotel, 80,000-square-foot indoor water park and residential space.

Parx Casino in Bensalem Township, Pa., earned high praise from several township and state regulators at a public input hearing last week before a township vote would decide whether to extend the casino's gaming license. The officials -- saying the casino is not a home run but a grand slam -- commended the company for its employment of nearly 2,000 residents, its donations to community organizations and its contribution to the township's tax revenue.
Hong Kong's hotel market will continue to thrive amid the rapid growth of lodging properties on the mainland, says Jonas Schuermann, managing director of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. "No other city in the world is as international and cosmopolitan as Hong Kong. Our reading and understanding of what international travelers need is much better than anywhere else," Schuermann said.
The Lodge at Woodloch in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains is incorporating Dogfish Head craft beer into its treatments. Using Midas Touch, a sweet and dry beer, the spa offers a body exfoliation using hops, honey and barley, and then includes a beer bath and massage. The spa also features a beer hair rinse and beer pedicure. "Unknown to many, beer has some curative effects. It hydrates the skin and acts as an exfoliant. It also adds volume and shine to one's hair," said Nancy Deaton, the spa director.
