A House panel on Tuesday approved cybersecurity legislation while President Barack Obama met with representatives of the business community to promote guidelines created under his executive order earlier this year. Obama was joined by executives in the finance, information technology and energy sectors who expressed their support for the set of best practices set up by a voluntary framework and discussed the need for information-sharing legislation. The House Homeland Security Committee's bills call for greater cooperation between the public and private sectors in boosting investment on security technologies as well as providing for a skilled workforce to implement the systems.
