Human papillomavirus vaccines currently available in the market do not cover viral strains that were most often detected in black women, U.S. researchers said. The HPV 16 and HPV 18 strains, which are targeted by Gardasil and Cervarix, were less prevalent among black women than white women. The findings were presented at the American Association for Cancer Research Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research meeting.
